UCCRP Remembrance Day

On April 4, 2024, the UCCRP hosted a Remembrance Day at the Center in partnership with USC-UNION's Spring II African American Experience (201) class led by Dr. Tekla Johnson. This Education event emphasized the mission and vision of the UCCRP with a tour of the four historical markers located between the old jail and the Center and a tour of the Union Community Hospital. During lunch, Timika M. Wilson, UCCRP Co-Lead and a Center Board Member, read the historical write-up authored by Dr. Long's son to participants.

Dr. Johnson has committed to working with the Center to properly archive and store artifacts like medical cards, birth information, and other items from the Union Community Hospital to ensure their care in perpetuity.

These events help to bring awareness to the Center while providing non-profit partners a space to continue their individual missions. See images from the event in the gallery.
